Older New Yorkers' Day

Help us find the next Steuben County Representative for Older New Yorkers' Day!

Each year, the New York State Office for the Aging (NYSOFA) asks us to find individuals from our county who personify the powerful impact of volunteers. These people can be called “game changers” – individuals who have given generously of their time and efforts to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors.

Qualifications for nominees include:

  • Be a current resident of Steuben County, although they may not have lived her their whole lives
  • Be age 60 or older
  • Have served as a volunteer with one or more agencies serving their community, and whose service has enriched the lives of others

Nominations will be collected on an ongoing basis. Representatives will be selected annually by Steuben County OFA staff and members of the Steuben County OFA Advisory Council. Nominations may be either individuals or couples who serve together, and may not necessarily be affiliated with programs sponsored by the Steuben County OFA.

Should your nominee(s) be selected, they will enjoy a day-trip to Albany (all expenses paid) where leaders of NYSOFA and elected officials will honor them for their service at a luncheon. Their picture and story will be published in the Older New Yorker’s Day booklet and may also have the opportunity to tour the capital, if they choose.

The Steuben County OFA is counting on our friends, neighbors and partners to help us shine the spotlight on those individuals whose volunteer service has really made a difference. Submit your nominations today!
