Youth Services

The Steuben County Youth Bureau administers annual funding received from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) to identify and address a range of Youth Services in Steuben County.

Approved by the Steuben County Youth Board and Legislature, the Youth Bureau submits an annual Resource Allocation Package (RAP) to OCFS for review and approval. The RAP outlines the Youth Bureau’s priorities, procedures, and goals for the year, as well as the goals and strategies of each of the specific programs proposed in the package. Once approved, the Youth Bureau administers the state funding to contracted agencies, in cooperation with the office of the Steuben County Commissioner of Finance.

The specific programs currently funded through the RAP process are listed on the left of this screen. These services address a wide range of youth needs, including general counseling, family literacy, pregnancy prevention, juvenile diversion, and leadership development. Specific programs are operated by the contracted agencies and monitored by the Youth Bureau.
