Bike Patrol

Sheriff Jim Allard is proud to announce the continuation and expansion of the Steuben County Sheriff's Office Police Mountain Bicycle Patrol. The Wineglass Marathon has to date, generously donated six bicycles and equipment used for Steuben County Deputies to be able to be trained and provide bicycle patrol during special events, such as the Dairy Festival, Hammondsport Fireman's Carnival, Cohocton Fall Foliage Festival, the Steuben County Fair and the Wineglass Marathon.

In 2016 Sergeant Matt Sorge and Deputy Thomas Nybeck joined the team and received training and certification as the Steuben County Sheriff's Office hosted the Law Enforcement Bicycle Patrol Course in compliance with the New York State Division of Criminal Justice standards. Members of the Corning Police Department, Bath Police Department, and the SUNY Alfred Police attended the course taught by Deputy Brooke Payne and Deputy Michael Ramirez. Bicycle patrol enhances the ability of the Deputy Sheriff to interact with the public, be more approachable and create more one on one communication during events.
