This program has been suspended due to COVID-19.
The Mobile Work Program crews build sidewalks, maintain cemeteries, paint equipment and facilities, install furnaces and ductwork and help on many other types of projects for not-for-profit agencies. The crews are dedicated to doing meaningful work with mutual respect.
The Social Services Department assigns welfare recipients to the program. The projects are scheduled and the crew members are picked up, supervised and returned home by Public Works Department supervisors. The not-for-profit agencies provide the tools and equipment and materials. Steuben County provides job training and educational courses to the crew members.
