The Steuben County Planning Department encourages local energy production to improve power supply stability and advance the sustainable development of the County. Protecting the natural environment is also vital to economic growth and quality of life. To advance this goal, we work in partnership with other governments, agencies, and private entities.

Protecting Farmland & Encouraging Solar Development

This Geographic Information System (GIS) map app displays both Prime and other important farmlands and three phase power transmission lines. The intent is to provide information to local municipalities to ensure the preservation of productive farmland while encouraging appropriate siting of future solar development.
